About us

The Marine Contracting Association Limited (Marcas) was established in 1999 in Bermuda. A European service operation centre rapidly followed. The initial founding partners were two major shipping/owning companies and Acomarit (acquired by V.Ships in 2001); all leading players in the shipping industry.

In a pro-active move towards seeking new efficiencies, the membership invited OneSea, IT and e-business pioneer, to join the association in 2000. (The latter subsequently merged with Seasupplier in 2001).

The current shareholding is held by V.Ships and SeaSupplier

Marcas' international membership continues to grow. Today's members include BP Shipping, Efshipping Co SA, Efnav Company Ltd, Eletson Corporation, Fouquet Sacop Group, Furtrans, General Maritime, Graig Ship Management, Hanseatic Lloyd AG, Mare Maritime, Medpool Ltd, Petromarine, Portline, Portunato, SMIT and SNCM. Marcas contracts on behalf of 1200 vessels with total contract value having exceeded USD 60 million in 2002.

Through it's global network and worldwide operations, Marcas has gained an excellent commercial reputation and is supported by an experienced and independent contracting team.

Marcas signs supply contracts with suppliers "as agent on behalf of members" and generates income through transparent brokerage fees.
