| For any ship operator or owner,
keeping operating costs to a minimum is critical and achieving
economies of scale is an obvious, yet often unachievable,
solution for individual companies.
Marcas’ objective (see Mission
Statement) is to pool resources and negotiate
globally on behalf of its members with selected suppliers
in order to obtain the most competitive prices in the market,
whilst not compromising on quality or safety.
Business between Marcas, its members and suppliers is conducted
in a fair, open and business like manner. It is an independent
contracting association that will ensure fair competition.
Relationships with both members and suppliers are considered
a business partnership with the focus on achieving mutually
agreed goals in a coordinated and cooperative way. The most
up to date standards of quality and safety are adhered to,
as is the commitment to operate to the highest of business
standards.
Marcas contracts with suppliers “as agent on behalf of members,”
enabling members to maintain full management and control
of their purchasing, logistics and invoicing, still dealing
direct with the supplier. Contracts are fixed for between
one and five years.
Contract Coverage
Marcas has an extensive contract coverage network from
reputable market leading suppliers providing competitive
prices for shipping consumables including lubricants, chemicals,
gases, welding, refrigeration, paints (seastock and dry
dock coatings), communication, crew travel, chandlery, weather
routing and charts, drug and alcohol testing, fuel analysis
and spare parts.
The scope of contracting continues to grow and established
contracts are regularly benchmarked to ensure Marcas is
continuously achieving best possible market prices.
